For: children aged 6 to 10

During this swinging workshop, Rikkert Beek introduces you to the magical world of music!

You will learn about rhythm, melody and learn to make music with instruments such as the wood block, the xylophone and a rhythm egg. During the workshop you will of course mainly get to work yourself, not only making music but also thinking up your own music. Through music, emotions and moods are expressed. For example, emotions of yourself. Did you know that music was also very important to the Cobra artists? They listened to music from all over the world, performed their own songs and painted while listening to the latest jazz music.
During this workshop, you will be encouraged to find the music artist in yourself!
The workshop is open to all levels: from children who have already been exposed to music to those who are making music for the first time.

Rikkert Beek grew up in Amsterdam Oost and was introduced to art early on by his family. From an early age, he received music lessons, including from his father who has been a music teacher at various primary schools in Amsterdam for 40 years.
Besides classical music, Rikkert discovered improvisation, composition, jazz, soul, pop and rock. His musical inspirations can be found in music that shows freedom and individuality.
Rikkert Beek studied both art history at the University of Amsterdam and music theory at the Dutch School of Popular Music. His original music has been released on Spotify, among others, and he has performed in venues such as the Paradiso, Melkweg, Tolhuistuin and the Patronaat.

For the workshop, it is not necessary to bring your own musical instruments, you may (at your own risk).
