Museum Cobra introduces Wi Sranan in Conversation, a new series of in-depth conversations with creators, thinkers, and participants from the Wi Sranan exhibition. This first edition focuses on artist Meredith Joeroeja, one of the artists featured in the Wi Sranan exhibition.
Meredith developed the installation AKARE (2025) for Wi Sranan, in which fashion, ritual, and storytelling come together. AKARE consists of fashion looks, objects, weaving techniques, beadwork, woodwork, and braiding. The work is rooted in Indigenous art, craftsmanship, and heritage and brings the five elements—water, earth, air, fire, and spirit—to life. The installation honors Indigenous knowledge and feminine power and invites visitors to reflect on the voices of the land and the ancestors present within it.
During this afternoon, we will present the film release of AKARE, which offers an intimate look at the creative process and Meredith’s collaboration with Indigenous communities. The program opens with a sound bath by Vindestho Coaching, followed by an in-depth conversation with Meredith about her work, motivations, and future plans.

Sound bath – 10 min
Artist talk (part 1) – 15 min
Film screening AKARE – 20 min
Artist talk (part 2) – 15 min
