During the Wi Sranan exhibition, Atelier Cobra is transformed into a lively workshop full of color, tradition, and creativity. Here, our atelier staff work with dedication to create miniatures that pay tribute to Surinamese culture and craftsmanship.
What can you do at Atelier Cobra?
Using paint, cardboard, textiles, and patience, traditional objects are recreated in miniature: an elegant canoe like those found on the rivers of the inlands, a doll dressed in colorful Pangi fabric, and painted doors that refer to the rich visual language of Surinamese folk art.

Atelier Cobra serves not only as a demonstration space, but also as a meeting place where stories are shared about the significance of these objects in everyday life and rituals in Suriname. Atelier Cobra shows how contemporary creativity and traditional craftsmanship go hand in hand. In miniature format, but with a grand cultural gesture.
