During this curator tour, guest curator Noukhey Foster will take you on a journey through the works of 24 artists and one artist collective. Fashion, photography, paintings, installations, film, and performances show how stories from the past live on in the imagination of today—and how artists continually redefine the meaning of freedom, with an eye to the future.
About guest curator Noukhey Foster
As a curator and program maker, Noukhey Forster (1990) is committed to bringing underrepresented stories and perspectives in fashion, art, and culture to the forefront. Themes such as identity, representation, and emancipation form the basis of his exhibitions. Based on these themes, he brings together a diverse range of creators—from emerging to established—advocating for a polyphonic and future-oriented art world.
For seven years, he was involved with OSCAM, where he played an important role in the development of the museum from its inception. Today, he works as an independent curator with various institutions and offers new perspectives a place within existing structures.
As Head of Youth Culture Programming, he has been associated with the Kwaku Summer Festival for twelve years, where he is committed to cultural programming and strengthening the connection between performing arts and cultural heritage.
He is also the founder of OHIM, a multidisciplinary fashion platform that highlights new narratives in fashion. Within this platform, he develops projects and visual work in which like-minded creators are given space to contribute to an inclusive and layered fashion and art world. For example, he recently realized the exhibition Shifting The Narrative at OSCAM, in which he explored and highlighted the position of black men in the fashion industry.
As a (former) ambassador for the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam Art, and as a curator at GLUE Amsterdam, Noukhey is committed to strengthening the multifaceted and experimental character of the city and its institutions, and to inspiring a new generation of creators and art lovers.
